Building an Entrepreneur Friendly Community

Welcome to the website for the Building an Entrepreneur Friendly Community program. The program and resources contained on this site are intended for use by communities interested in developing a local environment that supports the growth and attraction of entrepreneur operated businesses. Modules will help a community in the creation or strengthening of stronger local support networks for entrepreneurs. This program, as well as each module, was piloted in two small communities in Ohio. Funding for the development of this project was provided by a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Agency ( and matching funds by Ohio State University Extension Community Development (OSU Extension) (

Organizations desiring to Build a Friendly Entrepreneur Community through this program are invited to use all or any of the modules included in this curriculum. In order to ensure effective program outcomes, we do encourage your community to complete all eleven modules. There is no charge for the materials but we do ask that you recognize Ohio State University Extension and United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development as the copywrite owners of the curriculum. We also ask that you let us know about your experiences with this program, and contact us with your evaluation of its effectiveness and usefulness for your community.

Within each module you will find a lesson plan, PowerPoint presentations and narrative (both a generic copy and an OSU Extension version), some have support materials including worksheets and in some cases video summaries of the module.
