AD Update:

Hectic Times Require Working Smarter

Reflecting on the past several weeks leads me to believe that they have been a bit of a whirlwind. In addition to the ‘normal’ work on our to do lists, many of us went from planning for, attending and recuperating from the Galaxy IV Conference in Pittsburgh to preparing for and taking part in the CD Unit Retreat in Cleveland last week. And though I occasionally tell Sandy ‘someday things will slow down a bit’ (to which, of course, she laughs), like her I am beginning to question that notion. No doubt we are in the midst of hectic times but they need not cause us undue mental strain. A recent posting about being busy and busily talking about being busy discussed why this was a bad idea and offered suggestions for how to work smarter. It was a super quick read and the tactics for working smarter were pretty thought provoking. I really encourage you to take a quick look at it here.

The original packing slips need to be kept on file in our unit (if the order originated from Org 55120).

New Brand Standards - Reminders & What's New:

  • The CFAES Brand Guidelines are available at: cfaes.osu.edu/brand/. Frequently asked questions as well as templates are also available at the site.

  • If you produce any materials using the new branding, please send a copy to Suzanne Steel in Communications and Technology (steel.7@osu.edu) or Kim Brown (brown.3384@osu.edu) for approval before you use or print it. You can run it by Sandy first, if you would like to do that.

  • The AP Editorial Style Guide will be available soon at www.osu.edu/brand.

  • No more commas before the last word or group of words in a series (serial commas).

  • Please do not place quotes under email signatures.

  • We are no longer using any of the old logos, including OSU Extension or the Signature Program logos (for now, use "An OSU Extension Signature Program" as a "kicker.")

New Email Attachment Filter Implemented:

To protect users from malicious email messages, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is implementing an attachment filter service for messages sent to and from the University Email Service. Email filters are a low user-impact way to restrict potentially damaging email content from infecting our computers and systems. This will result in fewer compromised machines and potential data loss, better workstation performance and reliability and a safer computing environment for all. This filter was activated on Sunday, October 20. Read more at: ocio.osu.edu/blog/community.
