Greg Davis Named 2024 Excellence in Extension Award Winner

The 2024 Excellence in Extension Award is presented to an individual whose passion for Extension’s work shines through in every role he undertakes, leading by example and always willing to go the extra mile. A respected scholar, he excels at translating complex research into practical, actionable solutions. His ability to amplify resources, foster collaboration, and drive meaningful change has made him a valued partner to organizations such as the Ohio Township Association, the Ohio Federation of Soil & Water Conservation Districts, and the County Commissioners Association of Ohio.

This colleague’s professionalism, approachability, and team-building skills have not only strengthened Extension but also sparked positive change within the broader community. His leadership has been instrumental in revamping the A&P Educator promotion process, building stronger relationships between Extension and ACEL, and creating innovative leadership development opportunities that are creating capacity within Extension to navigate the changes and challenges in our future.

As his roles have changed over time, starting as a county community development agent, to district specialist, then to Associate State Program Leader of Community Development, Associate Director, Dean, and Department Chair of Extension, and now as George R. and Genevieve B. Gist Endowed Chair. his leadership style consistently has empowered others to strive for excellence and make a lasting impact in their communities.  For his unwavering dedication, advocacy, and embodiment of the Extension spirit, Greg Davis is a truly deserving recipient of the 2024 Excellence in Extension Award.
