Civittolo named Interim Assistant Director for OSU Extension Community Development

Leadership announcement by Jacqueline Kirby Wilkins, Interim Director, OSU Extension, on September 4, 2019:

I’m pleased to announce that David Civittolo has agreed to serve as interim assistant director for the Ohio State University Extension Community Development program in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) at The Ohio State University. This full-time appointment is effective September 1, 2019, through August 31, 2020, or until a new assistant director is appointed. Details about the search process will be announced soon.

David is currently an associate professor and field specialist focusing on community economics. He has been responsible for conducting economic development programs and applied research throughout Ohio. David’s primary research interests include strategic planning for economic development organizations and engaging Ohio communities in business retention and expansion and retail market analysis. His research also addresses economic development tools that can be utilized by cities, villages, and townships that can strengthen the financial impact of economic development projects.

David has been with OSU Extension since 2000, and he served as a county educator and county director prior to the field specialist position. Before his work with Extension, Civittolo was employed as a village manager for numerous communities in Ohio. In December 2013, David was named the recipient of the Raymond A. Schindler Excellence in Community Development Extension Award.
