Video Bootcamp – July 15

Video production If you have little to no experience using technology in your teaching and program marketing efforts, check your calendar for July 15.

An introductory session will be taught by Brooke Beam and Kenzie Johnston, your CD (and ANR) colleagues at the 4-H Center’s Multi-media Room from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They plan to touch on filming styles, the types of equipment you might use, understanding your audience, storyboarding, scripting, and shooting. This is the first in a series with more advanced hands-on training being planned for the fall (e.g. file editing, music soundtracks, etc.).

The class is open to all CD and ANR program professionals and will be limited to 20 participants. Participants should bring their university-designated laptop and a small registration fee will be charged. If you would like to attend (or have questions), RSVP to me (davis.1081) by June 14. If you are interested in participating, RSVP ASAP…I believe this will reach capacity very quickly.

CFAES Farm and Rural Stress Task Force – Community Economics Committee is Forming

Interested in the economic structures and power dynamics of rural communities? Or, do you have a desire to inform policy to impact rural communities? You may want to consider joining the now-forming Community Economics Committee; one of three committees that comprise the CFAES Farm and Rural Stress Task Force. The group currently includes membership from Extension’s FCS, ANR, and CD program areas as well as members from AEDE, SENR, and OARDC.

To learn more, contact me, Godwin Apaliyah, Kenzie Johnston, or Pat Bebo (task force administrative liaison).

CD Professional Development Scholarships – Three Opportunities to Apply

Why? OJCEP recently added a third application opportunity to their professional development scholarship program. As such, we have revised the guidelines of the CD scholarship program to reflect that change. In essence, the timing/calendar changed to include a third application window. Applications are now due February 15, May 1, and September 1. Find complete information here.

NACDEP Conference 2019 – Asheville Next Week!

NACDEP 2019 logo In less than a week many of us will be in the midst of NACDEP’s 15th annual conference, ‘Home Grown to New Heights’ in Asheville, North Carolina.

Well over 300 Extension professionals are planning to share and learn over the three-day event. If you are planning to attend, I encourage you to be deliberate about how you invest your time. We aren’t hosting this year, so we can focus on the opportunities to learn about new programs and research and expand our professional networks too. To get a head start, take a look at the conference specifics here
