AD Update:
-Greg Davis, Assistant Director
CDS/NACDEP Conference 2017
Well, the 2017 conference is all but officially in the books and what an amazing experience it was. Typically, I have found our NACDEP conferences to be a pretty big deal. There are lots and lots of people who are eager to share and learn as well as old friends to catch up with and new friends to make.
And, when you think about Charleston, Philadelphia, San Diego, Park City, San Antonio, etc., I think most folks would agree that our conference locations have been quite appealing as well. For me, last week’s conference (I believe it was #14) may very well have been the best one yet. The Big Sky stretched from one snow-capped horizon to another. It also stretched my imagination and provided countless learning experiences that left me truly inspired, humbled and ever more appreciative of the diversity of this land and its people. If you were able to attend, I hope you found the experience to be valuable as well.

I also hope you are as fired up as I am to work together to make NACDEP #15 in Cleveland every bit as inspiring and impactful as last week’s event in Big Sky. Look for a ZOOM discussion soon where we can debrief our notes and observations from Big Sky, hear subcommittee updates, and talk about next steps.
CFAES is Growing
Despite the fact that the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences owns, operates and leases more space than all of the rest of OSU combined (i.e., 875 facilities and nearly 12,000 acres across Ohio), ‘space’ (or lack thereof) has recently become a very real issue. In addition to filling positions made available via retirements and attrition, CFAES is also hiring new faculty to address ‘Discovery Themes.’ Couple these space needs with those of additional new ‘service center’ personnel (i.e., central HR, central Finance and central IT) who have been hired to more effectively serve the growing CFAES workforce, and we are seeing a lot of ‘movement.’

Sandy and I have firsthand experience with the movement having been requested to relocate our operations the past few weeks. We are now officially located in 003 Ag Admin. The phone numbers remain the same as do our smiling faces when you come to see us. |
Also note that we don’t currently have any ‘dedicated’ work space like we did when in Suite 25, but I do have a round table with a few spare chairs should you find yourself in the building with spare time and the need to set up shop for a bit. We look forward to seeing you!
