AD Update:

CD Small Grants Available

Congratulations go to Mike Lloyd and teammates for their recently submitted and successful OSU CARES grant proposal. This and other recent outreach and engagement projects will be highlighted at Thursday’s Patterson Lecture at the Columbus campus (click here to learn more and/or RSVP). To help fund your applied research and curriculum development goals, don’t forget we have our very own CD Small Grants. Past grants have helped to advance BR&E and Energize Ohio team effort (e.g., teaching materials, publications, technology, etc.). Most recently, a CD Small Grant helped fund collaborative survey research in Wyandot County (see report). Proposals for previous funding rounds were due in March. Now, proposals can be submitted at any time. Contact me to talk through your ideas

Marketing Extension CD via Social Media

Hopefully you’ve seen the postings to our new CD Blog the past few weeks and are excited about how we might use this tool to communicate our recent and upcoming program news. Sandy and I are very excited by the initial reactions. For example, we had over 50 subscribers within the first 24 hours of the blog announcement. Three weeks later, we are up to 157 subscribers. Almost 800 pages have been viewed by 227 unique visitors with an average visit duration of 2 minutes and 20 seconds. What’s more, people are sharing our blog content. Our April 15 On-Farm Solar Energy Development Program post was shared on LinkedIn with no fewer than 500+ others (thanks to Frank Gibson). Exciting stuff indeed! We’ll continue to track and report statistics. What we need from you is recent and upcoming program news for content. Talk to Sandy or me with your ideas and/or send your draft post to odrumsky.1@osu.edu.

Multi-State Retreat - June 2-4

Information on the June 2-4 multi-state retreat should be available soon. As soon as we hear about registration, we will let you know.

Possible Date Change for CD Winter Unit Meeting

We had previously scheduled our CD Unit Winter Meeting on December 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ohio Union. Because the OSU Extension Annual Conference will be a three-day event (December 9-11), we are unsure at this time the exact date and time we will be able to meet. We will update you as soon as we can confirm the details.

Request Approval for NACDEP Travel

For those of you using CD funds to pay for the upcoming NACDEP Conference (June 22-25):

  • If you plan to pay for all of your expenses and submit a travel reimbursement form after the conference, you just need to email Greg (cc: Sandy) and tell him the estimated cost of each expense (mileage, hotel, registration, parking, tolls, per diem, etc.), the total and the fund you will charge it to.
  • If you plan to have the registration paid in advance by OSU, then you will need to complete a T# request form and send it, along with the completed registration form, to Sandy for processing. (You should be able to register online and tell them that a check is on the way.) Once the conference is over, you will submit a travel reimbursement form for your reimbursable expenses.

Please let Sandy know if you have any questions or need additional assistance.

The Center for Resilience has analyzed the past and future economic and environmental benefits resulting from the renewable energy and efficiency provisions of Ohio Senate Bill 221. Interested parties are invited to attend a public seminar at the Ohio Statehouse at noon Tuesday, April 29. Read more at:ohioadvancedenergy.org/event.

Outreach and Engagement Forum - May 1:

The Outreach and Engagement Forum will take place on Thursday, May 1, from 1-3 p.m. in the Ohio Union, Archie Griffin East Ballroom, following the Patterson Lecture.
