AD Update:

Sea Grant/Extension CD Changes

The long-time Sea Grant/OSUE affiliation to conduct Extension outreach and engagement programming has recently been modified. A key component of the change involves moving reporting lines from CD to Ohio Sea Grant to allow for greater Sea Grant-Extension autonomy. Similar in the way that academic departments receive Extension funding, the arrangement aims to reduce the multiple reporting requirements and foster increased efficiencies. And, similar in the way that department-based professionals relate to field-based Extension folks, everyone is encouraged to partner on projects, feel welcome at team meetings, and post key information when appropriate, etc. In short, while the ‘org chart’ may have changed, we are all still focused on enhancing our communities, organizations, and economy; and maintaining existing relationships and/or efforts to foster new working partnerships are still very much encouraged.

Congratulations are in order for Melinda Huntley who will be leaving OSU to become Executive Director of the Ohio Travel Association. Melinda came to us in 2006 after spending nearly 20 years in the Lake Erie tourism industry. She was instrumental in the development of the Ohio Tourism Leadership Academy and has served on the OTA Board for more than 7 years. She was OTA Board President in 2007 and received the Paul Sherlock Award (the highest honor bestowed to an individual in the Ohio Tourism Industry) in 2011. Melinda has served as interim Executive Director of OTA in an OSU/OTA partnership since April 1 and will become the full time permanent Executive Director on August 1. She is anxious to explore ways we might partner with the OTA into the future, so be thinking of what you may have to offer. Congrats again and best wishes, Melinda!

iPad Guidelines Updated:

The University has released a new, revised policy relating to the purchase of applications for iPads and similar devices with the Android operating system, including iPhones and any other smartphones. OSU Extension's policy is more restrictive than the University's relating to the purchase of applications on University owned tablets. The OSUE Business Office indicates that the above-mentioned devices require you to keep a standard credit card on file. The default credit card should be a personal credit card, and it cannot be charged without a password. Application purchases that are business related can be reimbursed through an eRequest (Employee Reimbursement), including an uploaded copy of the invoice. If you have questions regarding the purchase of applications for these devices and/or getting reimbursed through eRequest, contact Sandy (odrumsky.1@osu.edu).
