AD Update:
Starting May 1... eRequest to Replace Most Paper Forms
The Extension Business Office will require the use of eRequest, beginning May 1, to replace most paper forms. Among the new items that will be submitted via eRequest are mileage and employee reimbursements. Basically, you will upload a new online version of the mileage log and scan receipts for employee reimbursements to your eRequest. T-number requests and overnight travel reimbursements will remain paper processes. We will be sending, in the near future, an email with more specific instructions, especially for those of you who have 55120 as your home Org number. In the meantime, there are several new entries on the business office home page (http://osuebusiness.osu.edu/) under "What's New" to help you get started, including a Camtasia recording of how to create a mileage reimbursement in eRequest. These changes will allow for electronic approval, access after entry to see the status of your transaction, reduction in administrative burden, and faster processing time!

Godwin earned his master's (2004) and doctorate (2011) degrees at The Ohio State University. Previously, he worked as post doctorate for a national project with OSU Extension (many of you may have seen him in Suite 25). He was an Adjunct Professor at Columbus State Community College and Strayer University in Columbus. He has also worked as the Acting Administrative Officer for Navrongo Health Research Center- NHRC and as Research Officer (NHRC) from 1998 to 2000 in Ghana. In 2002 he won a Ford Foundation Fellowship.

National Value Added Agriculture Conference - June 24-26 - Traverse City:
The National Value Added Agricultural Conference, "Growing Your Rural Community through Partnerships," will be held June 24-26 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City, Michigan. Join Extension Specialists, Rural Development Specialists, Consultants and Service Providers, State Department of Agriculture Officials, Small Business Development Centers, Farm Bureau Service Providers, Agricultural Innovation Centers, Cooperative Development Centers, and more. You will investigate how partnerships between economic development agencies, communities, and businesses enhance the quality of life for rural residents by fostering civic infrastructure, strengthening the sustainability of agricultural production, promoting value added products, and improving economic opportunities consistent with the scale and capacity of the community. Mid-Career and Senior Faculty Learning Community Applications Due May 7:
The deadline to apply for UCAT's Mid-Career and Senior Faculty Learning Community is Monday, May 7. This program offers experienced faculty (associate or higher rank, including clinical faculty) a year-long opportunity to focus on teaching. Members develop collegial relationships with faculty from across the university who are at the same point in their careers, while actively working to enrich their teaching. Food Innovation Center Seeks Multi-College Proposals for FIC Seed Grants - Due May 11:
The Food Innovation Center invites proposals for the third annual FIC Seed Grants, offering $25,000 awards for new team research projects in food discovery. Proposals engaging experts from business, social sciences, arts, or humanities are encouraged. Ohio State targets three discovery themes to shape our future research. These themes - health and wellness, food production and security, and energy and environment - are articulated by the Trustees, the Provost, and in many of our colleges' strategic plans. First-ever Middle Market Indicator Finds Middle Market Growth to Outpace Larger Companies:
The National Center for the Middle Market (NCMM) has announced that the middle market, a leading indicator of America's future competitiveness, grew at a rate of 8.4 percent in the past year, but expects future revenue growth will slow according to findings unveiled in the first Middle Market Indicator, a look at the health and outlook of middle market companies in the United States. The NCMM is a partnership between the Fisher College of Business and GE Capital. The survey, conducted in March, found more than 70 percent of companies reported increased gross revenue in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the first quarter of 2011.
The Middle Market Indicator (MMI) is a quarterly survey of 1,000 CEOs, CFOs, and other C-level executives from a geographically balanced sample of leading middle market companies in the United States. Employee Self Service launches today, offering a single, secure source for faculty and staff to manage personal information. ESS offers two components: eProfile, allowing you to update personal demographic information; and eBenefits, allowing you to enroll in and manage benefit elections when eligible to make them (i.e. at hire/rehire, in a newly- eligible position, or during open enrollment).
